Bobby's Burger Palace Review (West Philly)

Alethea (my boss), Amanda (co-worker), and I went to Bobby's Burger Palace in West Philly for lunch. It was only their second day at this location, their first restaurant in Pennsylvania. Being a very new restaurant, I'll cut them some slack about the long line and the wait. The food was very good and their sauces were great. I had a "classic" burger, sweet potato fries, and a Coke Zero. Is it better than Five Guys? No, about equal in my estimate. Where they kill their competitors is in the ambiance of their dining area. It was a very nice experience, though a bit pricey at $12.

Taglio Pizza on Penn Campus

Chris, Luis, and I tried out the new pizza place on campus--Taglio. I give it a solid B. You pay for your pizza by the pound. It reminds me of Sicilian pizza with a crunchy crust. It does seem like gourmet pizza, but the cost was a little high at $11.50 per pound for my choice. My total cost, including Diet Coke, was ~$8.50. Not a place you want to take the whole family for eats, but decent pizza for an alternative to the burrito truck. All three of us stopped by Wawa for snacks after lunch because we were still hungry.

Checked Out a Mexican Restaurant as a Possible Substitute for Mission Burrito

Hidalgo in Secane, Pennsylvania gets 2.5 out of 5 stars from Amy. The food was very good, though the service was very slow and the prices a bit high. We both thought the prices were a bit high for slow service and less than optimal portions. One thing that was not expected was the owner breaking out into song during our meal. She was a pretty good singer. We might make a lunch visit to see if prices are more in line with reality.
